After just under two years in the Minor League, the Angels promoted Trout due to an injury to their everyday center fielder. However, once he was drafted 25th overall by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, he decided it was in the best interest of himself and his family to forgo college and head directly to the Minor League. Trout was committed and ready to play baseball at East Carolina University prior to the 2009 MLB draft.
